Whitney grew up in Oregon, and after graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Communication, ventured to Chicago. While there, she worked as a project coordinator at graphic design firms Thirst and VSA Partners, as well as an architecture firm. Though she loved the city and all the creative folks she met there, after five chilly winters she packed her bags for California and spent some time in San Francisco before returning to Oregon, which she now calls home.
In 2010, she was one of 50 photographers whose work was selected in the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops FAMILY competition. Several thousand submissions were received internationally, and 50 winning images were chosen for their various depictions of the family theme. In her spare time, she enjoys getting crafty and maintains an Etsy shop where she sells her work.
She is particularly fond of live music, mix CDs, thoughtful snail mail, road trips, flea markets, tacos, and the beach. While she appreciates the beauty of the Northwest, and has entertained thoughts of moving to New York City, she misses sunshine terribly and hopes to eventually make her way back to California. She especially enjoys photographing kids, but is open to photo opportunities of various kinds, and would love to hear from you.
